Off the Air

This is my Blog of: humor (often scarce), poetry (in too much supply), and songs (just plain ugly). Heck I'm even occasionally serious...

Oh Desert.

I did see some camels today... in fact while we were at a small arms range re-checking our zeros (making sure the rifle shoots where you point it) the camels flanked, encircled, and caused a rather lengthy cease-fire.  But apparently the Benduion herders do it on purpose, that is trying to get one of their camels shot.  Because then the US government get's stuck footing a $20,000 payout.  So really it's just a way to diversify out of the camel milk market for them.
For the record my rifle shoots nice and straight but at present it isn't in the plan for me to open up my tank's diver's hatch and start shooting.  If that happens then we're already in trouble.  The only other thing I've been doing here besides eating DFAC chow and getting chubby is sitting through the same briefings I already did back home.  The only difference is now I'm getting paid more.  Going to try to remember to snap a few pictures of Kuwait and capture the wonderful scenery to share when I get home.

On a final note... hmmm... Go nuggets I guess.

Still in Kuwait... it's a bit chilly here.  And that's really it.

Well the internet gets turned off tomorrow.  No use in paying for it while I'm gone.  Turning off the phone tomorrow too.  And mailing my computer home.  Hopefully then my parents will be able to mail it back and it'll survive all the traveling.  TV gets put into storage along with my last box of random crap.  Bye Mom and Dad, Bye Andrea, Bye Dan and Jennie and Cammi, Bye Beth,... I'll try to post from overseas.  I hear there are a lot of internet connections there now.

Still going

Still just counting the days.  Checking gear and packing up my barracks room.  Work tomorrow but I hope we're not there all day.  If we're late I'm sure it'll be the fault of us Joes of course.  Always is.

Man the Nuggets need 'Melo back.  He can get to the rim and score in the paint so well.  Av's are hanging around in the NHL.  Nuggets are about to be down by 5 ewith 40.8 seconds left.  I don't think they'll get it.   But I can hope.  At least the game is national so I can watch it.

Dog is doing really well according to the vet.  She went on a walk and ate food yesterday.  They said her eyes didn't suffer any permanant damage.  She's coughing some they said... but maybe she'll be able to fight until the end of Iraq.  Had dinner with my parents and it was a very painful experience.  I may see them birefly tomorrow to say good-bye... and then I won't see them again until mid-tour leave.  A lot harder than I thought it would be, that's for sure.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all.  Still just counting down the days here.  My parents are currently visiting.  And apparently the kennel my dog Dottie was at caught on fire and she suffered some rather nasty smoke inhalation posioning.  Right now she's at some vet hospital in an oxygen cage and getting IV's?  Hopefully she will be okay, they said the next few days will tell.  She's 14 years old now and deaf but hopefully makes it a little longer.  Maybe even until I'm back from Iraq.  My parents may leave a day or two early to get her.  Poor lil Dottie.

Spent a good chunk of the day helping one of my old TC's move.  That was an absolute blast.  Especially when I almost killed Z with a washing machine.  But it's good to know he can move that fast in an emergency.  Have PT in the morning again, too bad I'm not on leave.

Just e-mailed back a bunch of people.  I should do that more often.  Maybe I would if there was more going on.  A bottle of Turkey on X-mas isn't really all that newsworthy though.  Hell back in them college days that was breakfast.  Along with Match Up's Biscuts and Gravy.

Not much news.

Had my celebratory Arby's Christmas Eve meal.  Yahoo.  My parent's will be here to visit in a few days though which is nice.  And Andrea may actually come visit me at Fort Stewart once before I leave which would be the best thing ever.  Watch the Bronc's beat up Cincy on a blown Extra Point attempt!  Which is awesome because the Bronc's control their playoff destiny and it'll really piss off my gunner.

In other news my small pox blister is really itchy.  Merry Christmas!

Another Short update

What a show!  House! Wowza.  Work is still sucky.  Since we have nothing else to do it's official "Fuck with GI Joe Fucko time."  Woo.  Wait... I'm a GI Joe Fucko... damn it.  I wonder if they still show reruns of American Gladiators on TV?

Wow I've been blog slacking lately.  Had a half day today and hope for more of the same tomorrow.  Also have to turn in the dictionary definition of immaculate.  Since I was counseled this morning for not having taken my trash out at 05:50am.  Taking the trash out on my way to morning PT is apparently no longer acceptable.  My blanket was also not tucked in properly.  We had a spot on our sink.  And something about the bathroom that I didn't catch.

Hopefully Indy wins MNF so my example for the definition can stay "The Colts played an immaculate game last night."  And really piss off my 1st line.  Plus Cincy needs to lose because they're right in front of the Broncs in the standings.
